 In addition to being a Healthy Home Consultant for MyGreenCottage, I am blessed to be able to run the Good Karma Center, a healing arts center offering Yoga classes and the healing arts of massage and Chinese medicine. An important ethical principle of Yoga is ‘ahimsa’ or non-violence. This means that we should not harm our bodies or our environment, they are not separate. Green building is an extension of ‘ahimsa.’ When I first met MyGreenCottage President, Susan Colwell, and the rest of the design/build team, I knew it was a great fit for me as a consumer. After working with them on my own project, I realized that it was a great fit for me professionally and became a Healthy Home Consultant. Now, I am helping others create affordable, beautiful and personalized living and work spaces that honor the mind, body, spirit connection. The MyGreenCottage team doesn't just build green, they think green. For example, we save energy and resources by utilizing local material and labor. We don’t have a main office--everyone works from home which reduces pollution, saves energy and promotes sanity. Most of our marketing materials are in PDF format and emailed or displayed on the web. What does get printed is produced with wind power on 100% recycled paper using soy based inks. Even our logo shirts are organic cotton! MyGreenCottage is dedicated to improving the way custom homes are built and the way business is done in America. The result is improved health for you, your wallet and the planet. What’s not to love about that?
