For many years, I have made a conscious effort to reduce my impact on our natural resources. Living in a large metropolitan area not necessarily known for its conservation ethic can be a challenge. However, I do what I can: I recycle religiously, use public transportation when possible, conserve water, combine automobile trips, buy local produce, etc. I am even considering switching to a grease car. Lastly, I support organizations that are researching new approaches to lessen human impacts such as encouraging smart growth and developing new technologies.Mike Mongeon - Healthy Home Consultant

A major challenge occurred for me last year after my home burned. Is it possible to economically restore a 100 year old home and be environmentally mindful? The answer is yes, but it wasn't easy. The situation really jump started my passion for green building but also highlighted the existing gaps in mainstream building practices. I would like to leverage my knowledge as well as My Green Cottage's vast expertise to help others experience a wonderful custom home, that is personalized for their needs and creates the smallest possible ecological footprint.

I am thrilled about the opportunity to evangelize about green building techniques. Green homes shouldn't be just for the wealthy. Everybody deserves to live in a quality green home and enjoy the benefits of a healthier lifestyle, reduced energy costs, and the personal satisfaction that you are taking action to ensure that your children can enjoy the same natural gifts that you had.
