Actor/Activist Ed Begley, Jr. Is Named Spokesperson For MyGreenCottage

Well-known actor and environmental advocate Ed Begley, Jr. has become the official spokesperson for MyGreenCottage, a nationwide builder of custom green homes.

Ed Begley, Jr. has long been recognized for his active role in environmentalism and was recently named one of the "10 Hottest Green Celebrities of 2007" by The Daily Green. In addition to his HGTV eco-reality series Living with Ed, he is famous for his television roles in St. Elsewhere, The West Wing and many others.

"Friends and viewers often ask me for advice on building their homes," says Begley, Jr. "The only green builder I can recommend without hesitation is MyGreenCottage.”

He goes on to explain that MGC is the only green building firm that:

  • Builds any style home - anywhere in the United States
  • Uses cutting edge green technologies - from geothermal to countertops & paint
  • Has an entirely virtual workforce (saving on commuting fuel and costs)
  • Operates in a paperless environment
  • Builds green for the same price or less than traditional custom homes (due to National volume discounts just in time supply and other cost efficiencies)

     AND...offers an on-time/on-budget guarantee.

While MyGreenCottage is best known for building eco-friendly homes “any style, any size, anywhere” in the United States, since the California wildfires, they are increasingly becoming famous for their flame retardant building style. In a recent episode of NBC’s Housesmarts, Virginia firefighters used a 5000-degree blowtorch on a MyGreenCottage wall, proving that even at those temperatures, the structure did not burn. “Had the houses in California been built this way," said NBC Producer, Mike Ayala, "much of that tragedy could have been prevented.”

In addition to new homes, MGC also offers a full line of green remodeling. However, unlike other remodeling firms who most often gut the interior, MyGreenCottage attempts to restore, reuse and recycle, to preclude filling the landfills with usable cabinetry and building materials. “We can often completely change the look of a kitchen or bath by simply painting or adding molding to existing cabinets and using creative finishes on the walls and floors,” says MGC President, Susan Colwell. “We attempt to remodel with a minimum of tear-out whenever possible. It saves the environment-yes, but just as important saves the client money, time, mess and stress.”
